In short

  • I’m a patient, not a doctor.
  • I may earn a referral fee from Clinicana if someone books with them after joining my members area.
  • I paid for my own treatment first, and I label Clinicana wherever I recommend it.

I’m Jonathan, and I run Hair Transplant Turkey Guide. I had a hair transplant in Istanbul in January 2025, and I’m a patient, not a doctor. This site is free to read, but it isn’t neutral: I’m a referral partner of Clinicana, the clinic I used, and I may earn a referral fee if someone books with them after joining my members area. I paid for my own treatment before any of that existed. This page covers how the site is made, how it’s paid for and where its limits are.

Who writes this site

The only author named here is me, and I have no medical qualifications. When a page says “I”, it means something that happened to me: Norwood 3 hair loss and an FUE transplant of about 3,800 grafts at Clinicana in Istanbul. The longer story is on my about page.

How I earn money from this site

I’m part of Clinicana’s partner programme. If someone books a procedure with Clinicana after joining my free members area, I may receive a referral fee. It comes at no extra cost to you.

I booked and paid for my own procedure first, with my own €2,850, and the partnership came afterwards. On this site the path runs from the free ebook to the members area, then a call or WhatsApp with me, then an enquiry to Clinicana. The referral fee sits at the end of that path, so read my view of Clinicana with that in mind.

What this does and doesn’t change

Pages that recommend Clinicana say so at the top, before the first mention of Clinicana, and link back here. I’m adding that line to older pages. I still write about what I didn’t like: the airport taxi, the lunch at the clinic, the slow recovery, and the shock loss, which was the hardest part and scared me enough that I messaged the clinic in a panic. I can’t claim the fee has no effect on what I write, so here are the checks I use.

How I write and check the pages

  • I write what happened to me in the first person, from my own notes. I don’t borrow or invent other patients’ experiences.
  • On pages I write or update, prices and packages come from the clinic’s own page and carry the date I checked. Older pages may not yet, and I’m updating them. My 2025 package is not today’s offer.
  • Medical figures carry a primary source, such as a journal, a professional body or the Turkish Ministry of Health. If I can’t find one, I leave the figure out. I’m checking older pages against this list and I’ll correct any that fall short.
  • From October 2026, every page I write or update shows its last-updated date.
  • I don’t write fake reviews and I don’t pay anyone to write them.

Medical boundaries: I’m a patient, not a doctor

This site is not medical advice. Where a page touches a medical decision, I end it with questions to ask your surgeon, and I add a line on when to contact your clinic or a doctor. I’m adding both to older pages. I don’t diagnose, and I don’t give personal medical advice: decisions about medicines or treatment are for you and your doctor.

This site has no medical reviewer at the moment. If that changes, I’ll name the reviewer and the date on the pages they checked. A Clinicana doctor would not be independent of the partnership, so I wouldn’t count one as a reviewer.

For guidance from people with no stake in your booking, start with the NHS page on hair transplants and the joint statement from UK and Turkish surgical associations on hair transplant surgery in Türkiye.

When I recommend a clinic

On any page that recommends or compares clinics:

  1. Every clinic fact has a source and a date.
  2. I quote criticism of a clinic only from the original source, with its date and a link, and I say what I can and can’t verify.
  3. Pages that criticise a clinic carry no enquiry button, so a critical page never doubles as a sales page.

I always label Clinicana as my own clinic and my partner, and I never slip it into a list as if I had no tie to it. You can read how I choose clinics on its own page.

Corrections and updates

If you spot a mistake, or you’re a clinic and a price or fact on this site is out of date, tell me through the contact page. I check it against the source and correct it. Where the change matters, I say so on the page, with the date.

Changes to this policy: 22 October 2026, first version.
